Cereal Re-Bloggers: change the title

By
Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors

soggy cereal

You  know the Cereal Re-Bloggers on ActiveRain?  You know Fruit Loops, CoCo Puffs, Wheaties, Sugar Pops, Fruity Pebbles,  "Soggy Cereals Major Flake with Sparkles" and  "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs?" Members who use the Re-Blog feature on content that makes you scratch your head....

Why?  Why?  Why?  Re-Blog that?

You post content for the general public.  It's got local street names in it.  The post refers to local businesses.  Your geographic area is in the title... theirs is NOT.  You post content in a consumer channel on ActiveRain and a Cereal Re-Blogger from a couple hundred or even thousands of  miles away Re-Blogs it with gobbledy gook at the top like:

"Great blog and great job. Good luck to you this year and keep up the good work. Hope you sell a lot of homes and keep up the good job thanks again and worth a re blog "

That's the intro to the Re-Blog you want your readers to see?  Really.

I believe in Re-Blog.

You post content for the general public, a Cereal Re-Blogger adds the same garbage he cuts and pastes in as comments 10 times a day for points as the intro.

except with "and worth a re blog "because this is not a comment.  This is a Re-Blog.

It makes it hard to believe in Re-Blog when you see that....  calm down, count to ten....

  1. I still believe in Re-Blog
  2. I still believe in Re-Blog
  3. I still believe in Re-Blog
  4. I still believe in Re-Blog
  5. I still believe in Re-Blog
  6. I still believe in Re-Blog
  7. I still believe in Re-Blog
  8. I still believe in Re-Blog
  9. I still believe in Re-Blog
  10. I still believe in Re-Blog
Do you still believe in Re-Blog?   Do you believe in Re-Blog when you see your content on a Cereal Re-Bloggers ActiveRain blog?

For pete's sake Cereal Re-Bloggers change the title.  If anyone in your market stumbles on your presence on the internet or on ActiveRain, they can see it's all gibberish.  Help consumers in your market find your contribution to the internet by removing the  location in the title.

Change the title.

Please change the title.    Stop Duplicate Titles

Yes I know it is serial, not cereal.  They do it over and over.  I just like thinking of them as Cereal Re-Blogger's then when I see them comment on your post "Great blog and great job. Good luck to you this year and keep up the good work. Hope you sell a lot of homes and keep up the good job thanks again"   I recognize 'em.

LOL!  Great one Maureen.  I've had a couple of these and have to scratch my head.  Why would someone across the country re-blog a hyper local post?   Some people just don't get what this is all for, do they?

Coral I'd seen this member comment before and was pretty sure he does not get it.  I always worry perhaps English is not their first language or some other reason... but change the title... don't ruin the search engines for me for your 25 points.

Sometimes on hyper local if you use the intro to explain about the same thing  being true in your area you can Re-Blog hyper local content I believe.   Thanks.

and of course "Change the title."  remove geographic info there that does not apply to you.

OMG Maureen, so true. I have seen reblogs that I wondered why the person reblogged...it has nothing to do with their market or the topic. However I did not know you can change the title when you reblogged. Thanks for that tip!

Maureen, I'm glad you posted this. Probably many bloggers do not know the title can be changed. I sure didn't. Now I know! Suggested,

Ritu  My post is about a franchise restaurant that is NOT in his market.  My post has Central Ohio in the title.  It is about our weather, it's got street names, a mall name.  It shows my Facebook profile timeline.  Completely inappropriate material to Re-Blog for anyone outside my market.

Pamela  Title has always been able to be changed and should.  Months ago Nikki told us not to use the same title over and over on posts. Wordless Wednesday posts don't show up in the search engines.  A Dublin Ohio market report needs something more in the title for search engines to know it is a new post.  In the post people questioned about Re-Blogging.  I am surprised Re-Blog does not make you change the title now.

For some people its all about the points and nothing else matters.  These cereals make me crazy too.  Thanks for pointing them out.  Maybe they'll all re-blog this and see what they're doing wrong.

This is funny, very funny.  I do not use the re-blog as much as I should, but when I do, I always try to enhance the title so it rings out better in my local market.      The same ole, same ole, would look very unappealing.  Just like oatmeal without a little butter and brown sugar.

Thanks Rich and Cathy.

I believe ""Great blog and great job. Good luck to you this year and keep up the good work. Hope you sell a lot of homes and keep up the good job thanks again and worth a re blog "

is the intro to all this member's recent Re-Blogs.

I changed my post to "Columbus, Ohio" in the title rather than "Central Ohio... " it is not the same thing really and I wrote the post to be about Worthington and an area in another county for a specific reason but I don't want to share the title forever with another post, in another state with...

Oh well

Maureen - wy then they did not make it so that when you reblog, you have to write the Title yourself. If you just click "reblog" it would use the title which is on the original post.

I am not surprised by these "introductions" which resemble comments (guess written by the same members). The goal is the same 25 points...

Looks like you can nly either block members from reblogging, or... have no control over how they do it...

I never understood the value of reblogging and used it only a few times

And do not regret it

I believe in reblogging great content especially if it enhances an idea or person that I care about.

Hmmm I don't Re-Blog content based on who wrote it since I almost exclusively Re-Blog content for consumers.  The content matters to me, not who wrote it.   The person I care about is the reader.

I occasionally Re-Blog professional content, big stuff, usually ActiveRain changes like ungrandfathering, points reducing fees. Those Re-Blogs are few and far between.
