You've Got "Meme"

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Tomlinson Group

Aug1995  Shari George "memed" me this afternoon.  For those of you who aren't familiar with what a meme is, think of it as a cross between a chain letter and internet tag.  If you're interested in the post that started it on Active Rain, check out Mary's Blog.  From there, Jay organized it.  and it made it's way all the way to Idaho...

  1. So, here are 5 Things You Don't Know About Me:
  2. 1.  It has been more than 50 years since I liked horses well enough to get on one and smile about it.

2.  In the early '80's I ran a one line BBS on a CPM machine.

3.  I love studying Reformed Christian Theology, and Western American History.

4.  I have an amateur radio license (not using it though).

5.  I've been collecting the state quarters into sets since they started coming out... I remember when I was small, my grandpa gave me some "old coins", and it really fascinated me.  I want to be ready to make that grandpa gift someday, just in case our girls give us grandkids.

And for my meme tag-ees, I've chosen some newer Coldwell Banker Active Rain members:

Kristine Crowe, Ruth Ann Ross, Nichole Medokowich

I had a shetland pony that looked like that one.  I firmly believe satan walks among us on Earth in the form of a shetland pony.  What a wicked animal that was.

Hi Bill- can you tell me what #2 means!? Sounds like you stole radio waves from the British and black marketed the info in the back alleys with your fancy machine! (am I right )

Chris, I share your belief about horses... fascinating animals, but I'll never get on one.

Michele, a "one line BBS on a CPM machine" was a single-user-at-a-time message system (bulletin board system), dial up.  CPM was a computer operating system similar to but predating MS DOS.  Chris is right, it pretty much was an "inigma machine"  ;-)

Bill - I enjoyed reading your 5 things you shared with us!  Like others, I just couldn't figure out what #2 was, but now I know from you explanation.  I'm afraid of horses - they are large animals, too big for my comfort!

Thanks for sharing!  And I think it's great that you tagged some of our newer members - I hope they take part and have fun reading others' posts!

Bill, I just noticed your from Boise - my 2 youngest sisters were born at Mountain Home AFB, not all that far from Boise.  When we were much younger, my dad was stationed there.  We lived on that base for 5 years, before being transferred to Arkansas.

Bill, I enjoyed reading your 5 things. I also collect state quarters. I thought my daughter might find them interesting when she's a little older.

Ann,

Mountain Home is growing too, although not quite as fast as Boise.  The man who leads our small group was stationed at Mountain home (he lives here now), and when our Pastor goes on vacation, the chaplain there comes to preach.

One of the fun things about this meme thing is it gives us unexpected places where our lives touch.

Hey Bill.. thanks for sharing!  I remember the BBs days.. (but not the CPM machines) I grew up with DOS.
as far as the coin collecting.. I'm with you.. I had SO MANY coins froma gentlemen friend of the family that would travel to at least 3-5 countries per month and he would be bring me coins from everywhere. My mom gave them to my cousin, and when I ask him about it, he doesn't even remember them (no interest).. so oh well.. gotta start a new collection for the grandkids. maybe first I should have kids!!

I looked into the ameteur license thing when I came back from South America. We would be all over the airwaves down there.. here its much more regulated, but very interesting none the less.
