My Favorite Honolulu Neighborhoods: Koko Head Terrace, in the Hawaii Kai Region

Close to Koko Marina Shopping Center and right next to the Koko Head Regional Park is the neighborhood of Koko Head Terrace, just east of Lunalilo Home Road near the Hawaii Kai Library.

Most homes here were built from the mid 1960′s to the arly 1970′s, however some of these older homes have been torn down and replaced with newer homes. This is one of the earliest subdivisions of Hawaii Kai and consists of over 690 homes. Most homes were modest, single level, wood framed, three bedroom, two bath with carports. Average lot sizes were around 6,500 square feet with many homes built on level terrain and no views.
In the Hawaiian language, Koko means the blood of a man bitten by a shark. This area was in earlier times once a canoe landing site.
