Declining Dollar draws in foreign homebuyers

By
Real Estate Agent with Orlando Area Real Estate Services

The declining Dollar certainly is making us all think at least twice before deciding to go on a foreign vacation. In fact a smoker friend of mine just came back from the UK where he told me that gas was equal to $10 a gallon and a packet of cigarettes was $15 - not a carton, a pack!

But it is not all bad news for us because the whole thing works in reverse for foreigners! $3 gas for us = 1.50 POUNDS for someone from England. And housing is just the same which is what is dragging these foreigners here to bargain hunt.

Dollars

"The US is an enticing investment," says Phillip Hegarty, the sales Director of a Dublin based firm that works with irish investors to buy residential and commercial real estate in the US.

And what's even better news for Florida is that it massively tops the poll of where these foreigners are spending their money.

Simon - No wonder you are happy. The dollar is shrinking faster than my interest in the current political campaign. We look dirt cheap to foreign investors. You should be hitting up Craig's list in London. Tell a bloke he has a comrade here. Notice that nobody over there and over there is anywhere, is interested in moving here. DC just doesn't have that appeal.

John - thanks for your comments. I am hitting lots of UK websites, but I am also using my six UK offices. As for DC - did you take up my challenge?

You have Mickey in your back yard and you should see more foreign visitors soon.  Disney's stock shares are supposed to have a good quarter because of the weak US$ bringing in more Europeans (where their dollar willl go further here)

Yes we do Katrina and there will certainly be an influx even this week, but the big one where the roads stop moving is still a few weeks away.
