Interesting Turkey Facts

By

Just for fun I did some Internet and magazine reading about our much celebrated Thanksgiving DAY and found these facts to be out of this world!! Here they go -

Each Holiday Season, Americans eat more than 5 Million Gallons of Jellied Cranberry Sauce.

Wild turkeys can see 320 degrees without moving their heads!

70 Million Pies are sold in grocery stores every year at Thanksgiving.

This year Americans will eat about 46 million turkeys - 345,000 tons of meat!!!

In 1863, two national days of Thanksgiving were declared:

  • One celebrated the Union victory at Gettysburg
  • The other created the Thanksgiving holiday we still celebrate today.

A spooked turkey can run at speeds up to 20 miles per hour. They can also burst into flight approaching speeds between 50-55 mph in a matter of seconds.

Benjamin Franklin wanted the national bird to be a turkey.

Awesome Thanksgiving information. I saw a comment on door knocking that you replied to stating you guys were having great success with a quarterly newsletter. Just was wondering who that was through and what type of success you were having? Thanks for your help.

Thanks Misty. Yes, Redding is beautiful indeed. We have so many friends that visit every year to this area, there's a lot to do when it comes to recreation!
