Friday's Fotos - Pemaquid Point Lighthouse
Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is located in Bristol, Maine.The Pemaquid Point Lighthouse was put into service November 29, 1827. The original structure had to be replaced 8 years later. They believe the builder may have used salt water in the lime mortar. The Pemaquid Light was the first lighthouse to ever appear on American currency, the image in on Maine 2003 quarter. The lighthouse is in service today!

Keith: There is something about lighthouses that draws me in every time. Another fine example of early America still in-use...enjoyed the history behind it too.

Great photo and I too enjoyed the history. My father had his room in lighthouses and had a picture on the wall that resembled your photo. He has passed on but your post gave me some great memories. Thanks Keith.
