It's time for Wine!

Mulled wine is a Christmas Tradition in my homeA big Christmas tradition in England where I come from is Mulled Wine. There are many recipes for this, but the one I am submitting here is an old family secret and is wonderful to taste and warms you up on a cold evening (OK not really a problem in Florida, but if you turn the AC down to 68, you'll get the idea).

I serve this at my annual Christmas Party and without doubt it is always the one thing that everybody talks about.

The prep must include the studded Orange. That is the first thing to be done. Everything else is so simple. It really is a real throw it in a pan and stir and then wait....and wait.....and be delighted.

Feedback please from all those who dare to try it!

Ingredients

Two bottles red wine

1 orange studded with 14 cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

4 oranges sliced

8 tablespoons of sugar

1 tablespoon of Nutmeg

2 tablespoons of brandy

Put everything in a pan with 2 pints of water.

Slowly up to a simmer and stir until sugar has gone and then keep it barely at simmer for 20 mins

It should be served hot. Never let it boil. I know some people who use a slow cooker to make it because that also provides the perfect serving bowl as well and keeps it hot throughout your party night.

Don't forget the feedback please!!

Looks like a good recipe, maybe I could serve it at an Open House...just to relax the buyer's? Kidding... think it would help?

Simon, the wine I have is actually rather sweet, hence the so-so classification. I'm going to try your recipe. I'll let you know how it works.

I've got this bookmarked... thank you!  I still remember how this smells-  my first employer (I was 14) would have this brewing in the store all day right before Christmas, and would serve it to the customers.  You know, back in the day where you could walk into a grocery store and be offered an alcoholic drink.  While I was too young to enjoy it, I remember how good it smelled!
