The Salvation Army of the Brainerd Lakes area is looking for volunteers to ring those bells. Their goal for the 2007 bell-ringing/kettle campaign season is $100,000 to help families and children in the area. Last year they exceeded their bell-ringing goal raising $97,780. The 2007 campaign will start November 16th and run through December 24th. My family takes a least one shift every year and have really enjoyed the experience, although some years have been pretty cold, here in Brainerd, MN.
"We are very pleased with last year's result and will strive toward this $100,000 goal for 2007. This community is so good about stepping forward and helping those in need." said Captain Brian Reed, Brainerd Lakes Salvation Army Corps officer/pastor." Our promise to this community is to serve human needs with the resources that we are given. We are grateful to have the trust of the community to meet people's needs and to do a little bit more beyond that with presenting the love of Jesus Christ."
If you would like to volunteer to help ring bells for the Salvation Army in the Brainerd. Minnesota area, call Debbie at 829-1120. Contact your Salvation Army in your area to volunteer. One shift of just a few hours time is all they ask. Besides it is a great way to say hello to folks, get acquainted and to get your self into the holiday season. There is even an on-line kettle hosting program.
You can sign up as a group for your Real Estate Business or Staging business or just pull in family and friends. If you are alone in the world, sign yourself up.
In the Brainerd area in 2006, with the distribution of Angel Tree and Adopt-A-Family gifts and Christmas dinner food baskets, the Salvation Army served 637 households, 1,998 individuals and 987 children. That is something worth ringing a bell for.
