Village Green in FairhavenThe Village Green in Fairhaven

The Fairhaven district of Bellingham is one of the most popular places to visit in Whatcom County. People love to walk the old town streets and peruse the small retail shops. Harris Street even still has the original rail tracks and brick embedded into the street.

This time of year, the businesses are beginning to get ready for the holiday season and Fairhaven will soon be illuminated in white lights. Like many destination shopping areas, Fairhaven likes to put on a production for the holidays. Christmas decorations everywhere and white lights wrapped around the old fashion light polls truly make Fairhaven a beautiful place to visit during this time of year.

In the heart of Fairhaven you will find the Village Green. Not really large enough to be considered a park, the Village Green is more of a gathering place for locals and visitors. The Village Green is a large grassy area in the middle of the city surrounded covered park benches. Some consider this to be the backyard of the popular Colophon Café. For those staying at the Village Inn, the Village Green is just across the street. If you are planning a visit to Bellingham, make sure that you stop in Fairhaven and visit the Village Green.

Ryan, I have traveled all over the US but your beautiful state is one I have yet to visit. It looks like it is such a scenic area.  I love the picture on your profile page with the mountains in the background. WOW!!!! I love to ski. I would bet you have some great ski resorts.

Yes, the skit resorts in Washington State are amazing. Mt Baker is my favorite local ski resort. In 1998-99, Mt Baker set the World Record for snowfall.
