Why are you using Pinterest?

Many of us are not posting photographs and images on Pinterest and some say it is addictive.  Is Pinterest something solely for personal interest or are there ways to have the post compliment our marketing efforts?  What do you think?

Hi Roy not using Pinterest yet in fact haven't even really investigated it yet.  Been busy with buyers who are getting off the fence around the Q.  Hope you and Dolores enjoy a great Tuesday!

I just signed up for Pinterest but haven't "pinned" anything yet.  It's a way to show off and share your interests, so I'm thinking a real-estate board to showcase listings would be appropriate.

I am on Pinterest and have a nice following - but not for real estate, per se.  I have lots of "pin boards" on home styles - fabulous kitchens, fabulous bathrooms, fabulous tile work, fabulous architecture and trimwork. I point people to it when they need to update their homes because they can find a LOT of ideas in one easy step.

Roy:  Been too busy to give it a go but I did get an invite so will try and carve out a little time this weekend to explore it.  I heard the links are do-follow but have not verified that.

I wonder if real estate professionals should have a Pinterest board for each subdivision in their local markets.  Should we be creating a Pinterest board for each listing?

Have an outstanding week!

Interesting idea Roy.  Pinterest is on my list, but something I hadn't done yet.  Thank you for pointing it out.  I think your ideas of how to use it for real estate could really take off.  I guess it's time for me to get busy with it.

Hi Roy, I have to join the chorus of some of the others, I have been so busy I haven't checked it out as yet nor have I had time to get my posts up. I hope in a day or so I will have things under better control. Seemed like the dam burst.

Thanks for your comments.  The folowing quote may be of interest:

"Pinterest is the fastest growing website in the market today and it is by invitation only. Pinterest is a vision board, social media sharing website and app, where REALTORS® can create and manage theme or topic based image collections. Long story short, it is a virtual pin board where you can create category specific groups called "Boards". The visually stimulating website allows you to stir interest in your listings and drive traffic to your website or blog.

On Pinterest, agents can set up boards using their city name, business type, product, or service. I live in Chicago; so I have boards set up specifically for Chicago and on each board I pin items that can be combined in one category like Chicago Great Bar-B-Que. It is easy to "Pin" a photo or video to a "Board" from any image on the internet. Firefox has a "Pin It" bookmark that allows you to simply click on the image and it is posted to your board or you can upload a photo from your computer or mobile device using the Pinterest App. Photos and videos can be "Repinned" just as one would Retweet a Tweet on Twitter." - Marki Lemons

It is sometimes good to revisit old blogs and reblogs. We might even find some good ideas for new blogs.
