West Newton is one of the thirteen villages of the City of Newton, Massachusetts. It is one of the oldest of these villages. Like all of the villages in Newton its boundaries are not firmly defined, but the Zip Code 02465 roughly matches the village limits. West Newton is located in the north central part of Newton. It is bordered by the City of Waltham on the North and by the Newton villages of Auburndale (on the west), Newton Lower Falls (on the extreme Southwest), Newtonville (on the East) and Waban (on the South).
Like many of the villages of the City of Newton, West Newton has a town center shopping area. The West Newton town center (West Newton Square) has several good restaurants and is the home to the West Newton Cinema, which shows both first run films and independent films.
The Massachusetts Turnpike runs through West Newton. You can enter the Mass Turnpike going East towards Boston at West Newton Square. West Newton is served by the MBTA Commuter Rail and is not far from the Woodland Station of the MBTA Green Line "D" branch.
