Ok Vanessa: You had me at first. I didn't like what I was reading in the first paragraph, and even starting into the second. But you hooked me. Good Job !
Success is really empty unless when you climb into bed at night and put your head on the pillow... you actually have a smile on your face because of someone you helped that day. Thanks for sharing...
ps... I just went to read your profile, and the type in the first and third sections was so small I found it difficult to read. The middle section was fine. I liked what I read, but it wasn't easy. Thanks... Karen Anne
Vanessa, Very enlightening! I'd like to take it to a more meaningful level. Why do we just wait for the end of year Holiday Season to feel charity? People are in need all year round. Why not on a monthly basis check with a local church as you suggest for people in pain.
Everyone comes out at Thanksgiving and Christmas. People need nutrition everyday. Wealthy is not the money in your bank account. I heard Zig Zigluar say a man once asked the question, "I wonder how much money Howard Hughes left?". And another fellow answered, "He left it all!"
I suggest we don't know our last day, young or old and would not it be shame if we were refused entry into the Pearly Gates because we let folks suffer when we could have helped and left all the fast cars, slick purses and bank accounts. Because one day we will leave it all!
If everyone did a little then no one would have to do a lot and everyone will be better off. I don't feel wealthy when I know my brother suffers! I know of a park where a bunch of homeless and down on their luck people gather and any time my heart speaks to me I might cook up a hot dish and share it with them.
Actually, last month I made my to die for Potato Cheese soup and shared it with the folks. I was little upset as some spilled in my car and I had to clean the seats. I quickly forgot about the seats when the folks told me how good the soup tasted.
I've got a large plastic container for all the supplies I need to serve the food and make it a pleasant experience. I'll get me a smaller container to put the dishes I cook in so my car won't get messy next time.
I'd be interested in what others do other than during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. How do you share your wealth, because one day you too will "leave it all!”?
Thanks for read my thoughts! You are exactly the kind of agent our office loves and needs. Please let us know if you are ever thinking of relocating to Northern Virginia just outside DC? In the meantime, I will just add that wishlist.com has a gift registry where families in trouble can post items they need and donors can fund their gift requests anonymously.
This year, I have even gone so far this year as to "Adopt a Family" (I've launched a holiday fund raiser drive for a family where the wife/mother is terminally ill and in extreme poverty). Anyone interested in sending gift baskets directly to them (food, comfort treats) or donating as little as $2 through paypal to pay for medical supplies is welcome to contact me for more information directly. We are also asking for craft supplies (hand crafts that can be done from bed), a used laptop computer with working modem (so she can connect with the outside world), and school supplies for a 13 year old daughter who is struggling to help take care of her dying and parapalegic amputee mother (she is suffering from a debilitating infection of her bones and spinal nerve tissue that is progressive and past correcting).
Taking a few dollars and a few moments of your time to help another less fortunate is actually rewarding. Beyond all the good you can do in your immediate community, actions speak volumes about what it means to be a citizen of HUMANITY. Whether a life coach, positive speaker, or a big pair of mahogany brown eyes inspires you, get yourself organized, out and about, and moving. WE HAVE GOOD WORK TO DO.
Happy Holidays, Vanessa... I'll be back to add you as a friend through my main Active Rain site, www.activerain.com/KaeDavis after I am done here with my office posting.
Kindest regards and warm thanks for inspiring us all with such a lovely post,
Kae Davis, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Ashburn Dulles

We are placed here to be a blessing to others!
"Ntsikelelo" = "Blessing to others” from Eastern AfricaNtsike : Your name has a deeper meaning now. Thanks for sharing. Yes the more we share the more rewarding our life can be. Sometimes I find myself loosing track of what I really want to accomplish. If we can remind ourselves everyday that we are here to help others our business with flurish and more importantly we will be making a difference.
