The state of Louisiana kicks off a year-long celebration of 200 years of statehood
LAKE CHARLES CELEBRATES!
I love history and especially celebrating and preserving our history! Throughout the State of Louisiana many towns and cities will be scheduling their own Bicentennial celebrations.
The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau along with the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana, have been busy with plans to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Louisiana statehood.
Lake Charles is full of history and throughout the year I will be taking you back in time sharing some Lake Charles historical facts as part of my own Louisiana Bicentennial Celebration Series!
Here is the first fun fact:
Did you know that Central School housed soldiers during World War II? The Arts and Humanities Council is housed in the historic Central School building and will be having a special Open House on April 28th! Central School will be showcasing bands, live art, historical lectures and more!
Get inside the time capsule with me I'm going way back to the 1900's!!
Stay tuned, in my next Historical Celebration Series I will highlight the Palm Sunday Tour of Homes focusing on:
Margaret Place Centennial Celebration
March 31-April 1
Margaret Place Historic District/Lake Charles
This will be a great event to tour some of the turn of the century homes located in the Lake Charles historic district!
Lake Charles is rich in culture and history. Lake Charles has been my home for 29 years where I have enjoyed living, working and playing throughout the years. I love Lake Charles and enjoy sharing my knowledge of our city with those relocating to Lake Charles or visiting Lake Charles.
