My top 10 Blogs and what made them.

I have been blogging on here for just over 2 months and have wrote over 100 blogs. Some flopped and some exceled. I wanted to acknowledge my top 10 and why I think they are successful.

  1. Marketing at it's best. This blog is about how the big guys use MSN homepage to market. By far the most succesful blog that I wrote as it currently has over 683 views on it. Now, one might ask, views dont mean that much, it is how many comments you get. Well, if your mentallity is about points, then I think you would be right. For me, it is how often people read it. It only pulled 9 comments.
  2. Baseball Playoffs - Who will go American and who will go National - this blog is about sports and brought in 610 views and over 36 comments. It is easy to see why it was a good write.
  3. A new Thanksgiving Turkey recipe. (caution: extreme laughter has been know to break out due to this post.) - This was what I thought was one of the best Turkey recipes around and is a joke that 523 people want to take a look. It also received 29 comments.
  4. Indianapolis Colts vs New England Patriots - Today's BIG game. - this blog was about the biggest football game ytd and brought 502 views with 53 comments.
  5. NFL today - Matchup review - Who is better, NY Giants or Dallas Cowboys - Another review of a great game that brought 497 views and an amazing 62 comments.
  6. SEC QUIZ - this blog is about the SEC teams in college and will make the best of us laugh. It attracked 491 views and 31 comments.
  7. Spider Research - How drugs effect spiders - video off YouTube that shows the research of wood spiders and the effects that drugs have on them. A must see by all. It brought 487 views and only 8 comments.
  8. Are you stressing out? Then you need to read this email several times. - this blog provider the link to the best stress relieve around. One click away from becoming totally stress free. 482 views and only 15 comments.
  9. Tom Brady goes to heaven (Colts vs Patriots - another funny for all to enjoy) - a joke in refernce to pro football brought 482 views and 35 comments.
  10. I will survive. - Another video from You tube that I love. It is a must see with a very unexpected ending. This brought 454 views and only 13 comments.

Now you ask me, why did I write about this. Exactly what point are you trying to get out there. Simple, The blog that I wrote about our market received the best views but did not receive great hits on the comments because I attracked with the title, but not the subject matter.

My number 5 was able to do both because of its title and it's content. Today, I think about what I want to say before I say it. And prior to titling any blog, I have to ask myself, is this something that I want to read.

Once the title is done, make sure that the text will create a response, otherwise, you are just writing to write. Nothing wrong with it, but no need to ask why now one responds to your blog if you don't put forth something worth responding to.

Danny,   Noticed many of your comments on my posts.  You must be quite disciplined.

Bill, discipline is a mild understatement sometimes. It is an addiction.

Danny... I agree and disagree when it comes to a title of a blog. The title in my opinion is who you are trying to write to. Do you want AR people to read your blog and give you lots of comments?  Or do you want many consumers to contact you?  This is just my .02, but AR is a social platform more than a business platform. The highlights of AR from a social scene is to be recognized by those on AR... get features... climb the dashboard. I don't care who they are and that they say the opposite, but many are looking to achieve what I mentioned. Or, do you want consumers to read your posts?  There is no right or wrong reason.....  but I do see more writing to the people here on AR, but they talk about slow business. If you want to write to the consumer, remember that your first four letters of a title are the most important. These words are what are searched online.  Just some info depending on what you want. I say this because many mortgage blogs are boring. I wrote one today, just two comments. Oh well...my goal, hopefully a client from it. A blog like this?  Will get a lot more read and feedback. But you have to be happy with want you truly want.

In regards to some of your posts mentioned, I read a few and need to read the others.  And 100 blogs in just 2 months?  Just a thought... keep in mind. If you write 2 to 3 blogs a day, you will have the likely hood of less comments from time to time also. Why?  If you are on someone's subscribe list, they usually go to your last blog. Sometimes to the last 2... just food for thought.

Jeff, I think that I read a blog from either you are Jason Crouch on that very topic. In my case, I write because I like to. I typically try to write 2 a day, one to make people laugh and one for the serious side. But, I have a tendancy to write more on the weekend.

As for your first statement, I can see your point and I will try to keep those in mind as I get better and better. But, remember this, I have ONLY been blogging for 2 months total on any format.

Danny.... first off, I am not trying to tell you what to write. And I am sure that you know that. And I have only been blogging since October 2006, so I am not an expert. It all comes down to why you write and what you are trying to achieve. Part of what I was trying to get across though, if comments make you happy and you want to see more, sometimes you need to space the blogs accordingly....even if you have a following. But again, write what you want to write.... what makes you feel good.

In regards to the title.... a catchy title is good, but really only for those on AR, to click onto your blog and possibly read it. From what I know and have learned, this won't do much for you if you are trying to attract consumers. Again, the first 4 letters are key and how people find you.

Danny,

You do a great job with your posts.  They are always a pleasure to read.  I look forward to the next 100.

Isn't amazing how many people read a post and NOT comment?

Danny,

Keep up the good work.  I find that the posts that get the most comments are those that are education and humerous.

I look forward to your next 100.

I'm pretty new to the AR and haven't posted much yet.  The ones I do have out there seem to be getting some action from google-land and consumers as I've tried to put out some consumer-related information.  Nice insight into what's been working for you.
