Northgate Mall

It's great to have the parking lot back at Northgate Mall, along with some good restaurants and a couple of new stores! The Christmas shopping is going to be much easier this year! On the east side of the Mall, DSW is open and Bed Bath and Beyond will be soon.

Construction has begun on the southeast corner of the mall and it looks like the rumors are true. A new cinema in our neighborhood in addition to condos, senior housing and best of all - Thornton Creek running through a green area.

Thornton Place

Completion is scheduled for 2008 and more details are on the website: http://thornton-place.com/ More renovation news includes LA Fitness, near 125th and Aurora seems to be completing construction soon. And Bartells on 125th and Lake City Way opened on November 5th.

We won't have to put so many miles on our car anymore with these new additions to our community!

Todd,

Northgate has been trying to improve over the years and this expansion is a nice addition.  The construction occurred over the last year and holiday parking was a mess last year.  This year it will be a breeze for shoppers!  The new construction for the theater and condos won't affect the parking for the mall.  Check it out when you get a chance!

Hi Kate,

I went to Northgate a few weeks ago and was amazed at all the changes.  Are they going to put a theater back in?

Hi Leslie,

Wasn't that old theater great?  I saw my very first movie there -- Cinderella!  :-)

The current plan is to build a 14 screen cinema at Thornton-Place which will be just South of the mall.  I last heard that they expect completion to be the end of this year....

Hopefully Northgate will upgrade its mall security soon. A rash of catalytic converter thefts from vehicles parked at the mall (including mine) won't be good for business when the public starts to find out about the extent of this. This is an epidemic that is taking place all over the country due to precious metals in catalytic converters (like platinum) that theives want to sell to recyclers. My vehicle was parked on the second level of the new parking deck on the south side of the mall when the theft happened in broad daylight, under the surveillence of two video cameras. So far mall management won't release the video or say how long the video will be held. I've got to believe there is evidence of this crime on tape.

Stephen, Sorry to hear about your theft!  I hope that the mall is cooperating to help you at this point.  Mall parking lots are notorious for thieves and Northgate has always had their fair share of car break ins.  Thanks for letting me know -- I had no idea about about the precious metals!
