Stotts Drug Store

Leo Stotts

On the back of the picture it says Leo Stotts Hendrix College, Conway Searcy Ark, Stotts Pharmacist.

It is beautifully hand tinted and should hang in Stotts Drug Store if it is one of the original owners of the drug store.

Stotts has been redone within the last two years so that it has its old original look as shown here.  We in Searcy Arkansas appreciate the character that has been preserved by the owners of this drug store.

Nope. L.O. Stotts was the pharmacist that founded the drug store in his name. Leo was a into sports and coached at Walnut Arkansas according to Raymond Muncy's book. I'm not sure if he was a son of L.O. Stotts. I don't think he was a pharmacist. We know that L.O. Stotts son-in-law, Roger Gene Williams ran the store. He passed away last year.

Most of us old timers have fond memories of Stotts Drug Store. Barbara, you have featured it several times in your blog.

Don, Nancy reported this on facebook.

I have quite a few pics of Leo but have never seen this one. He was an outstanding football player at Hendrix. He was killed in a motorcycle accident while a student there. While cleaning out my moms closet after her death I found an envelope that had some burned money in it. These were taken from Leo's billfold after the accident.

Pharmacist or not, I'd buy my medicine from him, ANY TIME!

A trip to Searcy wouldn't' be complete without a visit to Stott's Drugstore.  Not necessarily to buy something, just to walk through, as in a time warp, and remember the good old days of Searcy, growing up.

Don, we need to meet at Stott's sometime and have a coke, over the old coke case filled with ice even today.  How about it, Searcy Sleuths?  Pick a time and I'll be there!

Stott's actually got an award last year from Main Street Arkansas for "best restoration under $10,000."

When I lived downtown I would go there to get Cokes in glass bottles. I think it was the only place in town where you could get them.

Anita, they also had a Yarnell's box full of their products.  I think it is gone now.  Do you think they didn't own the box and Yarnell's took it back?

Luke, I saw that nice write-up in the paper but couldn't find it when I started this blog.
