Get out there and Enjoy life the Johnson City way

Isn’t it amazing how you can live in the same State for all your life, yet see very little of it? It happens everywhere; tourists tend to know more about your country or State than you do. Embarrassing, isn’t it? Well, this is your chance to become aware of your surroundings. Get out there, find out what’s happening in your area and take part. It is important to understand what activities the people around you love to do, because you will get a sense of belonging so deep, you’ll wonder why you had never thought of it. For instance, did you know that every year, the Latino and African-American community of Johnson City organize the Umoja Unity Festival, to celebrate their ethnic diversity and enhance unity in the community? It is a colorful festival which brings together the cultures of these diverse peoples to downtown Johnson City, complete with music, dance and plenty of food. Another festival that you should check out is the Blue Plum Festival, which is a free music festival that is organized in conjunction with East Tennessee State University. This festival brings together a huge variety of regionally and nationally acclaimed musicians and artists to showcase their talents. They perform outdoors in an extravaganza of bluegrass, folk and Americana music. If you were around Johnson City on April 1st, you must have had mad fun at the First Friday “Zombie Tag”, which was graced by over 3,000 attendees. This event was eventually declared a security risk and will not become an annual event as had originally been the plan. However, don’t let that dampen your April Fool’s Day plans, because there are bound to be more amusing events in your area. If you are just visiting the city, then your tour will not be complete unless you visit the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site which houses a museum, an educational centre and eleven other buildings all dedicated to preserving and showcasing the Appalachian traditional farming and craft techniques. This is probably one of the most interesting Johnson City homes. Eat at the Holiday Inn and board in the Jam n Jelly Inn, which is a superb, family-oriented cozy motel with great ratings. Whether you are here as a tourist, or you live in the area but don’t get out much, there’s always something for you here to enjoy.

Don't forget to check out Johnson City Real Estate.
