Pleasantville, NY Voted 2nd Best Smelling City in the Galaxy

Pleasantville HouseI have often said that nearby Pleasantville is aptly named. It borders Briarcliff Manor to the east and is idyllic: a picturesque, charming little village on the Harlem line of Metro North with shops, eateries, and culture. The latest feather in the village's cap is that GQ magazine voted it the second best smelling city in the world

Good for them. I'm no expert on aroma but I can tell you that living in Pleasantville would never stink. My first job ever, which paid for my junior prom in 1984, was washing dishes at Pace University. When I took a year sabbatical from life in 2000 before I got married I tended bar at Mediterraneo. As a matter of fact, I proposed to Ann over a nice meal from Mediterraneo, but it was takeout. They still get credit. I meet every other Friday at Jean Jacques with my networking group. And the Jacob Burns Center is Westchester County's premier theater for cultural films.

We love to do business in Pleasantville. Stephanie Solano, one of our top agents, lives in Pleasantville and is a local expert.

In 2011, 47 homes sold in Pleasantville at a median price of $495,000.
There are currently 40 homes for sale in the Pleasantville school district at a median list price of $649,450.

It is a great time to be a buyer, and if central Westchester County is a good location for you, you should check Pleasantville out. Better yet, reach out to Stephanie. (914) 645-2433

I was impressed when I saw that Pleasantville is the 2nd best smelling city in the Galaxy.  Not sure they have visited every planet.  But I was even more impressed when I saw No. 1....

Obviously, Gilroy CA, the garlic capital of the world, located in South Santa Clara County wasn't under consideration or it would have won.  During harvest the entire town smells like garlic and that's hard to beat.

Nothing against Pleasantville.

That's gracious of you to send business to Stephanie.

I have to admit to not reading GQ.  I can't remember ever reading it.  But I had no idea they rank cities based on aroma!  Who has the training to do that?

And where do they get the training???

And the Galaxy-wide training???  THAT is pretty impressive there.

Pleasantville IS a wonderful village.  I totally agree and they definitely deserve the community overview.  I would buy a home there!

However, I'm with Jay on the GQ study.  How the heck did they do this survey?  Did they send a team of smellers from one village/city to the next, place them in the center of the city, and say, "GO!"?  Was this self-reported?  I would think Hershey PA would have made the cut with the chocolate smells!

Did GQ send out specialist with super sniffer noses?  Or pehaps bloodhounds to see if they could find any offensive odors?  And sorry Jane Peters but LA is the best smelling city....come on now...really?

I remember checking out Pleasantville when the movie came out and people were talking about all the towns across the country with the same name.  It looked like a great place to live and now we know it's one of the best smelling places too :)

Pleasantville is delicious-I guess it's the cupcake bakery on Washington Ave and the incredible smell of popcorn coming from the Jacob Burns cinema-sometimes the smell is so potent it reaches Chappaqua and Ossining!

Phil, I either saw this on tv or read it on the internet.  Could you please send me a bottle of your air so that I can see what it smells like.  :o)
