10 Cities with the Cheapest Housing!

Nationally, the median list price for a home in December 2011 was $188,000, a 5 percent increase over December of 2010, according to Realtor.com data tracking 147 metro areas. 

 

But in some markets, you can snag homes for under $100,000.

The following cities have some of the cheapest housing based on December 2011 median list prices.

  • Detroit, Mich.: $80,000
  • South Bend, Ind.: $99,700
  • Toledo, Ohio: $104,900
  • Dayton-Springfield, Ohio: $105,900
  • Fort Wayne, Ind.: $107,000
  • Las Vegas: $120,000
  • Springfield, Ill.: $122,700
  • Lakeland-Winter Haven, Fla.: $128,000
  • Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria, Ohio: $129,900
  • Akron, Ohio: $129,000
  • Ocala, Fla: $129,000

Just clicked on your blog to see which cities are listed.  I'm surprised that Las Vegas was in the top ten, or should I say Bottom 10.  Oahu median is hovering near 600,000 median.  120k might get you a very smaill studio apartment in an older building.
