As the holidays approach, many people are inclined to maybe take their home off the market for a while and "take a break". What an opportunity they are missing out on! Yes, it may be true there are less lookers but buyers checking out homes this time of the year are more serious buyers and if one chooses to look at your home, your chances of selling are much greater. At least you are not just getting the window shoppers! This is a great time of the year to play up the beauty of your home. Take advantage of Christmas decorating! Here are some quick and easy tips:
1. Do display a Christmas wreath on the front door.
2. DO NOT put a miniature Mr. and Mrs. Claus at your front door. This does not say classy.
3. Do put up just one Christmas tree unless you live in an enormous home.
4. DO NOT make it a big tree. You don't want it taking up your precious square footage, you want your home to look like it has plenty of space for the new owners!
5. DO NOT put gifts under the Christmas tree. It can look too cluttered and puts you at risk for theft.
6. Do place a beautiful arrangement in the center of the dining room table.
7. Put garland on the mantel.
8. DO NOT entertain this year. Have the holiday get-togethers at another relative's house this year instead to decrease the work and stress it will take to clean up and clear out for showings.
9. DO NOT put lights on the house. It draws attention away from the aspects of your home you want buyers to look at.
10. Do put clear or white Christmas lights in bushes or trees.
Last but not least- ENJOY the season!
