Why use a Realtor?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Affiliates

How often do you run into Consumers that feel they do not need the assistance of a Realtor?  They can not justify our fees.  They just do not need our help with such a "simple" transaction or two.  How do you respond?  Any luck with FSBO's?  How have you overcome these obstacles?

i advise my clients against it..... but i still get several per year that go it alone.

i just had a successful transaction that was fsbo and everyone on both sides are happy. seller got full price less about 2% (which went to closing costs)

could this deal been enhanced for either side with a realtor? i dont know..... because like i tell my clients several times during the transaction.... i am NOT a realtor and did NOT stay at a holiday inn express last night

Most all of the home sellers out there consider selling the property themselves. Its our job to explain how they benefit by using our services.

This is true!  We need to show them how much they do need our services!

Hi Michele - For our sellers, one benefit that we bring to the table is negotiating skill. Third-party negotiations benefit the seller. We are not emotionally involved with the home or the buyers, so we can make better business decisions which affect their net. Second, because we deal with offers and counter offers on a daily basis, we know what to look for in a contract and how to protect our sellers.
