An early Spring in Newnan Georgia!

An early Spring in Newnan Georgia!Come set your joy on golden fronds
That spice the meadow with saffron strains
‘Tis Spring that waxes, fresh verdure dawns
Awakes as Winter’s crescent wanes!
                    ( R Weisser 2012 )

Spring has come early to Newnan Georgia this year. The “jonquils” started blooming in January and the “redbuds” are resplendent in their awakening.

The trees are already budding out. And while I enjoy Spring as much as anyone, you have to wonder about the impact this unseasonably mild winter will have on agriculture.

The famous Georgia Peaches require a significant amount of hours below 45 degrees to properly set fruit. Not to mention the fact that if they bloom too early, a late frost or freeze can ruin a crop.

But like it or not, we have no control of the weather and must deal with it as it comes.

In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the flowers!

Richard, your gorgeous image and poem certainly show the power of Mother Nature, even in the middle of winter. Perhaps, this is Mother Nature's way of stimulating the housing market with an early spring!

Still winter in Maine with a soft bleached white blanket of snow under cobalt blue skies today. The sunshine causes a million rhinestones to activate, burst in to sparkling motion. Awareness of the world around us is what we all capture with images, the written world in our travels outside the four walls of a real estate office.

Good morning, Richard. While the daffodils are popping up all over, I have not seen any in bloom just yet...

What a gorgeous image!  I wish we were getting flowers like that around here, we still have the cold rainy weather.

Emily...

I have had several hints that the housing market will break loose like so many daffodils! Thanks for the kind words.

It sounds beautiful! After all, that's the way it's supposed to be in Winter! Thanks my friend.

Richard my In Laws in Alabama are enjoying the Buttercup blooms and said the Iris are already up too!  They are excited that the trees are already budding out.  Hope they don't get bit back back a quirky winters cold snap!  Enjoy this beautiful Sunday.

The mild winter may have a lot of plants confused. Hopefully nothing severe comes along before Spring!

I admit I am enjoying this mild winter much more than the one we had last year. But I, too, wonder what effect this might have on our summer crops...a bit unsettling.

Nothing blooming but is it be a few degrees warmer we would see the tulip budding.

Richard, we haven't really had winter yet here in Kansas City but some of the daffodils and hyacinths are popping up. What a crazy weather pattern!
