It may be taking a little longer to achieve the Dream of Home ownership, but it is happening! I have been fortunate enough to work with some fantastic first time home buyers who have displayed much patience and perseverance in their journey. We have muddled through the often messy foreclosure inventory, the sometimes scary short sale scenarios and the trials and trivilations of underwriting.
Many of these first time buyers are from the generations that prospered and have not experienced the recessions, high interest rates and high unemployment of the past. And what these buyers have showed me is their great patience, their cautious risk taking, their sense of determination and their desire to tackle the do-it-yourself projects.
It has taken a team of dedicated professionals to make the American Dream come true. The lenders who have never worked harder and longer to make it happen, the attorneys who have to work with the title issues of the short sale and foreclosure difficulties and of course the real estate agent who gets them to and through the contract.
I have enjoyed seeing their homes after closing. I have seen many home improvements that they did themselves. Taking ideas off of 'Pintrest' and making them a reality in their new homes. I have seen friends and families come together to tile back splashes, replace sub-flooring and flooring, re-paint walls and cabinets and up-date lighting fixtures and pull knobs.
The journey is often longer these days, but the rewards are greater. The inventory is more challenging, the interests rates are phenomenal and the end results are bountiful!
