Formatting Problems with a Blog Post ~ WYSIWYG

By
Real Estate Agent with McEnearney Associates, Inc.

This is almost certainly an issue with user error, rather than something systemic, but why does my formatting not show up in my blog post?

I was working on a post Thanks for Holding that Open House on Super Bowl Sunday ~ They Are Effective!which I created in Word and then copied over into WYSIWYG.  For some reason, the style & color of the font I selected showed up as I worked on the post, but was gone once I saved and published it.

Any quick thoughts on what I could possibly be doing wrong???

Thanks!

Hi AJ - Writing your drafts in Word is often the problem. Word contains a lot of "hidden" formatting that is hard to purge and can cause trouble when copied into a post. It's better to use a simple text editor like WordPad, which you should have in your accessories folder already, and then copy that into the AR editor.

Hi AJ... it was intersting reading Dick's comment... I've been trying to do posts in Word and read another AR post saying that your success in copying and pasting all depends on the font you use.  I've had success using Calibri; however, sometimes, there is one section of a paragraph that turns up in black and not the color of text I wanted.  Rather than spend a lot of time on trying to fix this error... I use my title in black to make it seem "on purpose".  Good luck.

Dick - I have used Word in for other posts on AR and not had any problems like today.  I even used the same font, size & color as the successful ones in the past.  Thanks for your suggestion and I'll give it a try to see what I get, this post today took just too long.

AJ - Word doesn't work for me in AR.  I changed over to Google Docs and whola... it works!

Peggy - I have been using Verdana, which seemed to work well in the past, but it just got mucky today.  I'll keep your little trick in mind for future posts.

John - My wife is a Google Docs girl, I'll have to negotiate a quick session to get me up to speed.  Thanks for the recommendation.
