It was a perfect ending to the perfect vacation. The weather in Maui changes throughout the day; it is not unusual to have rain and sunshine on the same day. In fact, a daily sprinkling is probably the norm. I heard that Maui gets about 365 inches of rain a year – an inch a day on average.
As we were leaving to go to the airport, the drizzling started. As the sun broke through, this beautiful rainbow appeared. We had to pull over on the freeway to get this shot.

There is no place on earth that does rainbows like Hawaii. However, along Latrobe Road, there is a spot near Investment Boulevard, in El Dorado Hills, that is a pretty close second place. I use to work ata software development company up there. We would often see some really nice rainbows.
I just had to come back. I haven't been to Maui since 1978. . .Did you say, "freeway?" That is frightening. All of Maui was quiet and lowkey back then. There definitely were no freeways!
