Take it off in the rain (End of month 7)

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty LLC 200311024

Taking it off in the rainOK, this month was difficult for me and it wasn’t because I didn’t work out, not because I didn’t continue with my healthy eating. No, it was because I had to stop getting on the scale and only base what is happening with my body with a measuring tape. (And there was an actually possibility of gaining weight)

Now, this weight gain was going to be a good thing because if it did happen it would have been muscle weight that I gained and not fat. But, when your mind is all set on losing weight, getting on the scale and seeing weight gain wasn’t going to be easy.

Well, last night was the night I weighed in and I did lose weight, but not the 10 lbs a month that I had been losing the last six months. This month I only lost 3 lbs, but my waist is now a half inch smaller than last month and my calves are a quarter of an inch bigger. (Arms were a little smaller, but trainer thinks I still had a little fat to give there)

So, we will see how this next month goes, but I will keep up with the diet and exercise and continue working on my mindset of gaining muscle weight and not losing weight on a scale. Thanks you all for your support and thanks Activerain staff for putting me on stage at Raincamp and helping me realize that it was time to do something about my weight.

Great job, Todd... and every little bit helps.  That muscle weight, as you already know, will help increase your metabolism... good for you!

Todd, KUDOS go out to you for the total commitment you have in weight loss!     It does get harder as we age, and I turned 55 this year, and seems almost impossible!     I wish you success in your weight loss, as your mind is focused, you can DO IT!

Bgpic08292010120522_lTodd, that is quite an accomplishment and something I'm sure you are quite proud of, and well you should be.  Thanks so much for telling your story and posting it to my group "Take It Off In The Rain".  I had to Feature this because you are truly an inspiration to all of us.  Stick with your program and working with your trainer. you're having amazing results.  Don't worry so much about the 10 pound a month goal you set for yourself, and don't worry so much about the # you see on the scale either.  If you are losing inches, that's just as important.  Best to you sir!

Todd

You should be so proud of your accomplishment thus far, adn sticking with your goals of fitness and weight loss. I think the more important issue is that you are continuing to work at it and make progress. Less important is the actual weight loss from month to month. Keep us posted.

Keep up the good work. A good friend of mine also measures herself after weight in. My question is, how do you know you are measuring the EXACT spot you have measure last time around? (is this a dumb question?)

When beginning a healthy lifestyle regimen, it can be difficult to retrain our brains to think "inches" instead of "pounds"...

Hi Todd--I came over from Roger's reblog.  Keep building that muscle and ignore the scale for a few months.  I know it is hard, but the muscle will burn more calories in the long run even at rest and you will be healthier.  Keep up the great work.

Like Joan (#9) I recently turned 55 and felt it was a good time to make some life changes. For me, the holidays (Thanksgiving to Christmas) have always been a time to indulge in too much food and sugar. Yes, as many people did, I started my change at the beginning of the year. Daily exercise and eating a small amount every 2 hours. I'm shaping up in the right places and I have not been sore or hungry yet. Well here we are in the 2nd week of February and I'm still going strong. Keep up the good work Todd. It's people like you that motivate the rest of us.

You must feel utterly fantastic ... I know I do when I lose unnecessary weight. Pick up a 60 lb bag of concrete the next time you are in a home improvement store ... you'll be amazed at what you have lost, and more so, what you were carrying around.

Congratulations on your success. Having the discipline to do anything big like that is amazing. But, you already have lots of discipline, it is evident in your blogs.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and encouragement. It certainly is a lot harder taking the weight off that it was putting it on.
