In the Giving Spirit.....

It is that time of year when many get into the spirit of giving and I wanted to get out there that there are many locations accepting all kinds of donations for a lot of different people in need, from the poor, to our men and women fighting  in Iraq.

We are currently accepting coats for Prince William Area Association of Realtors annual coat drive. Slightly worn or new coats are being collected in our Gainesville office until December 1, 2007, but I am sure that if you continue to bring coats we will get them where they need to be no matter how late you get them to us. Especially, since this Winter is turning out to be one of the warmest Winters we have had in history.

We are also collecting very much needed supplies for our soldiers in Iraq. There is a long list of items from toiletry to snacks. It is hard to believe but these men do not automatically get refurbished with these needed supplies.

  • Shampoo
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Floss
  • Razor blades
  • Foot Powder
  • Chap stick
  • Bug Repellent
  •  Stationary
  • Pens and Pencils
  • Snack foods
  • Cookies
  • Nuts
  • magazines
  • Books
  • Games
  • Cards
  • Yo Yos
  • Disposable cameras
  • Phone Cards are also very much appreciated by the soldiers.

I am even willing to pick up from local areas if your having trouble getting it to one of the drop off locations.

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Another Great Idea is to send a card to one, or two, of the thousands of recovering soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Cards Can be sent to:

A Recovering American soldier

c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center

           6900 Georgia Avenue, NW

           Washington , D.C. 20307-5001

I am sure there are a lot of other areas accepting donations and finding ways to help others during this holiday season, so take a little time to see how you can help. With a little effort we can make a Huge Difference in the lives of others.

Sally, all are worthy causes, especially the U.S. veterans. Perhaps the outpouring of generosity will bring a positive light to Walter Reed.
