Transforming My New Home - Master Bed & Bath

In a recent post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, I promised to share photos from the transformation of my new home.

In case you missed it:  Dining Room,  Living Room

The Master Bedroom is beautiful and spacious.  Color was the only issue.

Both the Master Bedroom and Bath were PINK.

The Master Bathroom probably needed the most work.

One thing it was lacking was storage space...there is no closet.

One thing it was not lacking...mirrors!

master bath

The wall of mirrors had to go, as did the light fixtures.

We purchased a tri-view 48" medicine cabinet to add storage space.

New light fixtures were installed after painting the room

We painted the bedroom Ben Moore Stampede 979

bedroom and bath

One other improvement:

The ceiling fan blades were a dated looking woodgrain finish.  We removed them and turned them over to the other side which is black.

Looks great with the Stampede walls and soon to be added black furniture.

Sharon,

Thanks for sharing you innovative spirit with us, and I am enjoying seeing your artistry at work.  I am with you when it comes to color consistency...it is easy on the eyes and does not jar your conscioussness as you move from room to room.  I once saw a house with a different color of carpet in each room, I could not wait to get out of there, and I would feel the same about rooms, also. Sharon, aren't you smart, turning over the blades to get black! I love the ceiling. We had those mirrors in our bathrooms too LOL. Not good! Some might even say shocking ;).

Love the color combo Sharon -- they look great in every room so far!  The old pink had to go, along with Granny's curtains.  Looks like you'll be moving in soon!!

Hi Sharon, love that color Thunder-it looks like a great neutral-and I love that you turned the blades over-this house is going to be absolutely fabulous with your stamp!

Roger:  Please don't "mind your own business" - it was a great suggestion!

Sally:  Especially with the clear glass shower directly across from the mirrors....I look forward to hanging something decorative instead!

Alexandra:  I've been in those homes where every room has a different color carpet and it's not pretty.  For the walls in my last home we used  three colors, but really...most people would have thought I used the same color throughout because they were all so close.  This time I wanted to make sure there was a difference.

Janice:  We weren't sure they would be reversible until we actually got up there to check....and by "we" I mean my husband.  Once we knew they were black, it was an easy decision to switch them around.

Maureen:  My husband was very happy to see the pink walls and lace curtains go!  Stampede is much more masculine.  Hopefully we'll be moving the furniture in soon and calling it "home".

Joanna:  Thank you!  We are cetainly making it ours.  We will be bringing most of the stuff from the other house but giving this house a different twist.  The other was more "old world" with lots of bronze and this time around I'm going for a more modern look.  I won't know for sure how it all works until I get the furnishings moved over.

Sharon--it's wonderful how you used those two colors throughout the house.  I agree with there being way too much mirror in the bathroom.  And you didn't talk about salvaging those adorable curtains in the Master Bedroom . . . . .

Ellen:  Wouldn't that be fun!  Better bring a sleeping bag because I only have one guest room!

Kenneth:  Great to hear!

Shar:  There's always one more project when you own a home....we just keep finding more things to do!

Janet:  Thank you!  Those adorable curtains will be going in the yard sale in the Spring and hopefully to a new home.

Good morning Sharon,

Wow what a great job you are doing. I agree its good to have continuity with the paint colors throughout the house and add accents of colors. Great choice of colors..can't wait to see the finish product!

Hi Sharon...Who would have thought to turn over the blades?  You!  And now a good many of us know that this might be a possibility to share with others.  My blades are white (our house has very soft color walls so we put up very simple, plain white fans without light fixtures.  The other side is probably a light dusty gray by now but I'm not looking.

Kate:  There was so much dust on the top of these blades we are lucky we could identify them as black!

Sharon,

It is always so interesting to see how different a paint color looks in different spaces with different light.  Great job!
