My two sons and my daughter were all smart enough to marry folks that really like to cook. I knew they were precious (and very smart) from the minute they were born but they sure proved it when they married. Once again my good luck held up.
We were invited to my son and DAUGHTER-IN-LAW’S home for Thanksgiving. In spite of the fact that Lori was catching a plane for Seattle, she prepared a huge turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, salad, string bean casserole, baby carrots, pumpkin pie and apple pie plus a delicious rich, rich chocolate cake. I’m not going to list the other goodies for before, during, and after the meal. Certainly many people were hard at work preparing meals that were, perhaps, even more elaborate.
What was special is that Lori had received news of a family emergency around midnight which meant that she would not be home for Thanksgiving dinner. Friends and family members had been invited. Did Lori call us and cancel? No. Instead she didn’t say a word, got everything ready and told us her news after we arrived.
Lori is not only a superb cook she is a very special person. My son has a winner in his kitchen and in his heart. Unfortunately, we only have her in our hearts. LORI IS A GIFT THAT KEEPS GIVING.
