Springfield is a community of 451 homes in Bethesda, MD. The area is a mixture of ramblers, split levels and colonials built in the late 40's and 50's. The close proximity to Washington, D.C. and the renown school system are continual draws for this fabulous community. No official home owners association exists but a very active community association is in place to help address any local issues that arise. From July 4th parades to Halloween parties there are activities for families throughout the year.
Many of the owners who live here grew up in the neighborhood and came back as adults to live here with their families. It's not unusual to see kids at the elementary school whose parents attended there as well. And some of the same teachers still remain at Wood Acres Elementary School today!
Many of the homes in the area have undergone major renovations resulting in a significant rise in prices. The highest to date was:
- 5606 Parkston which sold in July 2007 for $2,400,000
The trend in most of this zip code is towards fewer sales year over year but this neighborhood is only one sale down through October of this year and the sales volume is already up from last year. The median and the average price have both increased by 10% and 11% respectively.
The compromises buyers make in this area are size and older homes that will need renovation. But they sacrifice those things to get great schools and the proximity to downtown locations. It is truly location, location, location with this wonderful community.
There are two active properties in Springfield as of today:
- A split level home on a nice flat lot of 8267 sq ft. It has 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths and one half bath. It is currently offered at $875,000.
- A split foyer on a lovely 11,713 sq ft lot. This home has 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths. It is currently offered at $949,000.
