I Thought Pinterest Was For Women??

pintrest for women?

I just signed up with Pinterest last night. And to my amazing credit I've uploaded like 5 pictures. I am officially a GURU Rockstar and before long will become a Pinterest Coach. Maybe not. And the previous statement is meant to be funny.

Take a look at the facebook response I got from a friend of mine. Pinterest for women?? Really? I had no idea that this was a girly hobby. Actually, I did. But like I told my friend Lilly, where there's women there's women who buy houses and I'm all about throwing myself on people and showing them my listings over and over again.

Not. Best not to be "that" guy.

How would you have responded to this?

It's a good tool to introduce your buyers to. They can assemble collections of properties they're considering.

I love Pinterest!  Always something great!  I hadn't thought of it for business.  I guess we can post a listing showing off the window treatments, landscaping or something else so that it doesn't seem as business-ish.  I'd hate for TPTB to cut us out completely because they feel it's being "infiltrated" with business over social media fun.

Seriously?  Pinterest is for women?  Just by the ratio?  Then I guess Active Rain and Real Estate are both just for women as well, Huh?  Get over yourself macho dudes!  I think there are many ways to use it for your business.  The possibilities are endless!!!!  Bwah ha ha ha!

I did not even know what it was.  I had to look it up.  If it works for you I have no problems with it.

On Friday I learned that 60% of people are visual learners - I cannot afford to pass them over. They might be mostly women, i don't know, but really does it matter?

I love Pinterest! I've already cooked no less than 4 new recipes that I found there and I've posted several of mine there. When it turns in to a site that people are putting their listings on I will quit.

I checked it out after reading something about how to find out who is pinning things from my site. Honestly, I don't get what Pinerest is actually about and there are already so many things I'm doing online that I'm fine simply passing on this one.

Greg,

I love Pinterest and am starting to see more guys on there.  Haven't seen much on their boards though so not sure how they will be using it but I'm in!  I definitely think it's a great way for people to get an idea of who you are.

Geeez -  this is news to me.  How in the world does one find the time to keep up with all this and still sell homes!  I will check it out.

I just joined Pinterest yesterday after hearing about it time and time again from basically EVERYONE that I know.  I requested an invitation online and it only took a couple of hours to recieve the acceptance.  I am interested to see how Pinterest works and whether or not it can (or should) be used as a business tool.  I am a little concerned that this could become one more thing to keep up with...Active Rain, Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, and now Pinterest.

I"ve been having a blast on Pinterest, but I do not consider it a Social Networking site at all. Just fun. You are not 'selling' anything, just sharing things online that you like. There is no geographical reference, so you might like the same things as someone else who lives 1,000 miles away. Still cool. At the same time, when you follow aquaintances you get to know them better (and visa versa).  So you are sharing on a different, more personal, and more honest level. But you are not "selling" anything on it. Will it help you sell in the future? Sure, it could. It could change a cold contact into a warm one.

As far as the gender issue goes: Really?  So, there's nothing on the internet that you like, or would want to share with your buds? How about the new BMW E Scooter? Pretty cool, might be perfect for quick trips downtown.... wonder when they'll offer it in the US? Or, how about that monster grill? You create the "boards" for whatever you want. It doesn't matter what you like, someone else will like it too.

Just have fun. You never know who you'll "meet" or who you'll become closer to because of it.

I haven't joined pinterest either, but this same subject came up in my house.  My husband and daughter both love pinterest.   So I decided to google, "pinterest for men" and I found gentlemint.  A real man's site with a bunch of guy stuff, mostly stuff for sale, not really a social media site.  You have to join gentlemint, so I joined it, figured it would be fun to be a woman on a mans site.  LOL

I just joined pinterest this week. There is a lot on there! I'm kind of bumbling around the site a bit, but having a lot of fun doing so. I didn't think it was just for women, but if it is, that is a terrific response!
