Warning: Showing houses can be hazardous
I was showing a client a house for the first time. $600,000 house on the Main Line.....
I decided to wear heels on this day, not an often occurrence for me - I prefer to be comfortable than classy.
The house was in need of some TLC, mainly cleaning up a little.
You could tell someone had stock in the local tile company - there was ceramic tile everywhere - including the kitchen walls! (Unfortunately they didn't get the lesson on installation, if you know what I mean - it needed ripped out and redone - all uneven, that's another blog).
Outside the sliding doors from the living room, you go onto a "deck" type space under some trees. Guess what the flooring was? Ceramic Tile! Outside under a tree that dropped leaves!
So, I exit onto the "deck" first, and not a graceful trip, not a casual fall, but a complete..... full blown....
S-P-L-A-T
I went. It was great, a sure winner for Funniest Videos. While I was down, I needed to find out the "why", so I ran my fingers over the tile..... you wouldn't believe it - OIL ! They polished the tile to make it shine with some sort of oil-based product!
I didn't hurt until driving home - then the back, neck started. I'm fine now. Nothing Advil couldn't handle... but come on! Polish the Ceramic tile that is outside? NO!!!!
Note to self: When you get the "Most Embarrassing Moment" question - remember this.
