This Saturday, February 18, hosts arguably one of the most popular events on Maui all year--World Whale Day. Sponsored by the Pacific Whale Foundation, we set aside an entire day to celebrate the thousands of humpback whales who spend their winters here in the waters around Maui.
World Whale Day runs from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and has added a second stage this year to bring in more entertainment. Start by watching the Parade of Whales which begins at 9 a.m. at the intersection of South Kihei Road and Alanui Ke Ali'i Drive and ends at the Kihei Public Library on Waimaihaihai Street.
Following the parade, make your way over to Kalama Park for the remainder of the World Whale Day activities. There is something for everyone of every age to enjoy. Here are the highlights:
- Keiki Carnival--everything for the kids. Inflatable rides and games. With the addition of the second stage there is now entertainment for the children from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. For the complete schedule, please follow this link: Keiki Carnival.
