Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

As the real estate blogging air thins and altitude increases dangerously close to the 900,000 Active Rain post point level, I settle in for the in flight informational movie.

airline cockpit runway approach

With a crystal clear plastic tumbler filled with ice and ginger ale, the lights dim and the seats get reclined the complete half an inch travel back in coach class.

"Why Should I Hire You As My Real Estate Agent" splashed on the drop down screen as I plugged in my headset, adjusted the volume.

The opening scene in a Maine farm house kitchen.

After the real estate agent in a not so flattering too small very tight blazer has toured the property.

The strait jacket blazer he sports in an off shade franchise color not popular at Sherwin Williams.

And the seller smiles a fatherly John Walton approach warm grin and suddenly goes stone face. Asks "Let's cut to the chase young fellow."

The seller of the Maine real estate wants to know why he should pick him for the privilege, honor, job of pricing, marketing, getting a buyer to the property listing closing conference room table. No bright harsh blinding lights turned on. No field polygraph apparatus were wired to the real estate agent with clips or sticky band aid circles of rubber. No charts made with an up and down needle stylus on graph paper that spikes as the agent squirms, sweats, feels tested or put on the spot.

The agents thinks about all the awards on the wall he has earned, or the usual approach about how honest, field polygraph test machinehow loaded with integrity and principles he is. But staring across the kitchen table, and the cobalt blue steely eyes peering deep in to his soul makes him reconsider.

This guy, this owner, seller is not interested if you are a member of the Centurion, Gladiator or Top Gun level of real estate agents in the country.

He does not want to hear a script, get any razzle dazzle loaded with real estate jargon buzz words.

He wants, will get the straight short and sweet reasons why he should select you, the guy in front of him for the mission, job, operation.

Not about the real estate agents career thus far, or how many sales he has had or how he got in to real estate background. Why right here and now, for this property and place in time should the seller pick him for this particular property? Why is he suited for the job as the best in the bunch, pick of the pack, cream of the crop.

(Ding ding sound, seat belt light overhead goes out) "Peanuts, more ginger ale sir?" the flight attendant asks you sitting in 33B.

What reasons would you give this real estate seller to select you for the job, to get your color, brand of real estate sign on the front lawn of this house, home listing? Marketing highlights of what it takes today to reach more people, more often and your own unique approach to the sport, passion of listing, marketing and selling real estate property listings in the comment section below.

Excellent points. First, congrats on your accomplishments on the Rain. Secondly, understanding our value and being able to explain that value is of utmost importance. Do I exude the confidence necessary, do I listen to what is important to the seller and do I explain how my marketing plan and efforst will help the seller accomplish their goals of selling the property.

Cal ... So true. Hand made, custom taylored for the job at hand. Not just I can list, market, sell anything thinking... it's why I am the perfect fit for the temperament, sticks and bricks and situation. With experience in not just real estate generally but this particularly property. The way it needs to be handled, cared for, like a patient in a hospital with dangling IV tubes and bags of vital fluids hanging on poles. It's more serious than life and death sometimes... a survival clock is ticking for the people involved and their lives.

Most excellent on the points!  I love your post too.  People want to connect with their Realtor.  They want to feel they can trust you to do exactly what you say you are going to do.  Market and sell their home.

Andy, So true.  The brand/sign might get you a call, it might not, but the bottom line is once we're in the door we have to give truthful answers, earn their loyalty if we want the job.  That personal bond has to form and quickly, and is too easily broken if the agent doesn't perform to expectations.  Congrats on the almost 900k!  Rare air :)

Cindy... both the seller, property bring bring puzzle pieces to the card table. The agent, broker is a big piece and everything has to come together upfront for a connection, a sincere passion and "fit". If it's not there, wrong combination. It's like you love someone, but are not in love situaiton. Glass slipper time.

L and B ... You can hire and fire, so can the seller, buyer, anyone in the most important, highest value investment affecting a persons life. If the agent, broker takes it too casual, lazy, not creative or able to see in the dark, around corners and always land on his, her feet from experience keep looking Mister and Mrs. Property Owner. Hockey players call it "seeing the ice", swiveling the head, moving your legs a half step or more faster to avoid body checks that delay the game, lose the black circle and your concentration. Skate faster, see the ice.Win the game by a large margin.
