A little tip for you before you enter suspicious houses.

We who do REOs never know what we're going to get into when we go through the front door.  That is if there is a front door.  Sometimes the doors are gone!

I learned many many years ago to be suspicious of what may jump on your legs as you step into the house.  Fleas may be starving for a new pet to bite.  One entry to a house was enough for me to learn a lesson.  I looked down and little black things were all over my legs.  So from then on I carried a white sheet of paper and put it down on the floor before I entered.  If there are fleas they'll jump on the paper and you'll know not to enter!

I also learned that you'd better keep a can of OFF or some sort of spray for insects when outside.  It is also very troubling to look down and see little tiny ticks crawling up your and your client's legs.

Thank goodness we don't have to deal with ticks, poisonous spiders, snakes etc. up here!

We do however have a ton of MOLD to deal with and that stuff will almost kill me. Luckily my sniffer can spot it before my eyes have to. :-)

Thank goodness we live in a altitude where there are no bugs of any consequence. We've been spoiled.

Sara, one of these days I want to visit Alaska.  You are lucky that you don't have the little insects but you probably have something just as annoying!

Mott, I love that snake!!

Gary, I lived in California and there were no bugs either.  I guess one has to grow up in the South to be able to adapt.

Thanks for comments.

I listed a foreclosure like that...flea heaven! It's amazing what we learn after only one experience like that. It's great advice on what to carry with you when doing REO's. Thanks!

P.S. - It took a professional company 2 times to get rid of the infestation. I had that done prior to placing the property on the market.

nope not really...

I think shrews/mice may be the only intrusive animal we have.

The bigger problem is people that live in DISGUSTING environments or that have had a METH LAB in their home.

As for critters/insects... nope ... not here :-)

I view all REO houses as 'suspicious'.  It's a lot easier to get into trouble when we let our guard down.  Have your own routine and follow it.  Thanks, Barbara. I've been remiss on the insect part of that equation. At least it's that time of the year when bugs die up here in Michigan.

Sara, those pictures were so funny.  Our mosquitos are bigger than your mosquitos!  : )  That other thing you sent wouldn't be allowed in the South.  It was just too revolting. : )

Robert, I have had only one squatter who was asleep in a closet but at least he had no dog.

Donald, thanks for comment.

Trey, I hope the rattlesnakes stay in TX. You must be near that place where people go and have rattlesnake round-ups every year.  Thanks for comment.
