Geocaching For Beginners, 1-4 pm.   Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way.    Ages 12-adult, registration required.   FREE  888-4237.

The Great Backyard Bird Count,Backyard Bird Count 9am-11am, Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way.   Stop by and help members of the Greater Ozarks Audubon Society count birds.   FREE, all ages.    888-4237.

Tomotoes Greater Springfield Farmers Market Greater Springfield Farmers Market 8:30 am to 1pm, alternating Saturdays at the Battlefield Mall, 2825 North Glenstone Ave.   The winter market offers naturally fed pork, beef, bison, and chicken.  Honey roasted granola, premium roasted coffee, dairy products, mushrooms, preserves, baked goods, handmade jewelry, and wood products.

Project Linus Springfield/Branson, 9am-noon, Project LinusOzarks Food Harvest Community Room, 2810 N. Cedarbrook.   Be a part of the National Make a Blanket Day.     Participants are asked to bring a piece of child friendly fleece, 1.5 yards by width of fabric to make and donate.    Project Linus makes and donates new, handmade blankets to children who are il, traumatized, in distress or victims of natural disasters.   

31st Annual Sertoma Chili Cook-Off, 11am-5pm.    Springfield Expo Center, 635 St. Louis St.    Sample chili from more than 70 Teams.    Bands performing: Trash Angels, Machine Gun Symphony, the Hillbenders, Cole Porter Band, Sock Monkey, the Jakebrakers, the Airwalks, Full Circle Band, Cruize Control, the John Miner Band and Springfield Psychos.   Tickets $12 in advance, $15 at the door.    Purchase advance tickets at Casey's Convenience stores, Dillions, and HyVee markets.   

Underwater Poker Tournament 1-4pm, DiVentures Scuba and Swim Center, 5601 S. Campbell Ave.   Cost: $40, $10 for ages 15 and younger.   

Sunday February 19

Traditional Dance and Music Society of the Ozarks Contra Dance 7pm at Northview Center 301 E. Talmage St.   Dancing begins at 1:30pm costs $6.  $4 for students and members.  862-8681   Music by Julie Henigan and Drew Beisswenger.  

 Jazz & Jumbalaya Luncheon 11am, Multi=purpose room of First and Calvary Church, 820 E. Cherry St.    Jazz worship service begins at 11am, luncheon at noon.   Cost for the luncheon is $5 for church members, free for guests.    862-5068.
