2006 Pioneer Award

Education & Training with Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.

Oh My... I'm in the top 10% (or is that the bottom 10%)?

Yesterday, I received the list of people eligible for the 2006 Pioneer Award in the North Central Washington Association of Realtors.  I have no visions of winning this distinction but I was definitely taken aback by even seeing my name included on this list.  I've always thought of the Pioneers as the "old timers".  Am I an old timer or is this some mistake?

I e-mailed the association office and ask what is the criteria... is being an old fogey in the business all that is required to get on the list?   Their only reply was that I am funny and I DESERVE to be on the list.

I'm not sure what the criteria is, but I do know out of some 350 agents in our association, there were only about 35 names on the list.  This means only 10% of us have been around for a long time.

Perhaps we should rename it the 2006 Endurance Award for those of us who have been able to survive!   My sense of humor has allowed me to survive and I know for a fact some of the others on the list are the ornery ones that have chased off those who didn't  manage to stick around.   ;-)

Congratulations on the nomination, Carole!

I like Ardell's advice of renaming it - I, too, immediately conjured up an image of covered wagons, etc.
