Horse Power for Life is a new non-profit organization located in Chester County. The organization's mission is to provide free educational and recreational horsemanship programs for cancer patients and their families. Programs will be customized for each student depending on horse knowledge, comfort level, health and physical ability. A number of studies have explored the positive therapeutic benefits of companion animals on people living with illnesses. Animals, including horses, have long been regarded as natural healers.
Shiree Sansone of Chester Springs is the organization's President. The program is hosted at Warwick Hill Stables in Elverson, owned and managed by Kathy Gross and Bill Albright. The facility is located on 22 acres and has both outdoor and indoor riding arenas. Lessons are taught by the Program Director, Barbara Rosoff.
The organization is looking for cancer patients who would like to participate in the program. They are also looking for people interested in volunteering time, donating items, and/or contributing financially to the organization. One hundred percent of all donations go directly toward caring for the horses and growing the organization. Additional information is available on their website, www.horsepowerforlife.org.
