Hi Debbie,  I wasn't aware that you have the option to change the color when refinishing your hardwood floors. Interesting, good-to-know info.  Have a good week!

Elyse - Yes, that is one of the really cool things about refinishing the floors.  If you change the color, it changes the whole look.

Ginny - Thank you.  Actually, we just won another refinishing job in West Harrison..and the funny thing is we did the floors from the neighbor across the hall.

I'd like to know how to avoid the after smell of the poly or the best way to rid the house of it.

The best way to get rid of it is open the window.  Fans help, too.

The best way to reduce it is to use a water based poly which doesn't smell as much.  but, it also doesn't look as nice nor last as long, so I personally prefer using the oil based.

Debbie when considering refinishing flooring it is also a good time to consider if a new look in the form of a new color would make a difference.  Harrison consumers would be wise to call The Flooring Girl.

Have a great week.

Good morning Flooring Girl,

I too was not aware you could change the color of your hardwood flooring by refinishing. Harrison consumers need to give The Flooring Girl a call if they are even thinking about refinishing their hardwood floors!

Great post, each of those light, dark, mid tones, and red tones are great options for home owners when they are thinking of refinishing their home.

Jennifer - Thx so much.  Yes, changing the color is huge.

Dorie - Thx for the endorsement.  It appears a lot of people don't realize you can change the color...looks like I need to do a post on this topic.

Eileen - Yes, different colors look better in some homes vs. others...or with some decors better than others.
