Festival of Lights in Downtown Baton RougeThis Friday(November 30th 2007) from 3:00-9:00 p.m. marks the  start of the holiday season in Baton Rouge.  The Festival of Lights in downtown Baton Rouge is the oldest holiday tradition in the Capitol City.  It is also one of the Sims' family traditions!  Every year we walk(not run!)  in the Reindeer Run and enjoy the living Nativity Scene.

There is so much to do that I can not list it all here.  For a complete list of events and time visit Downtown Festival of Lights.  Some of my favorite events include:

Ice Skating in River Center

Mayor Kip Holden lighting the City of Baton Rouge's 35 foot Christmas Tree!

Taking pictures with Santa Claus in the Old State Capitol

Walking (again NOT running) in the Reindeer Run Reindeer Run @ the Festival of Lights in Downtown Baton Rouge

Shopping at the downtown stores that are open late for the event

The miniparade and of course the fireworks!

All of this and much more is happening this Friday(November 30,2007) at the Festival of Lights.  Click here to register for the Reindeer Run.    I hope to see you there!

Hi Shannon,

By chance is Exxon sponsoring the lighting ceremony?

I use to work for Exxon in Baton Rouge before being recruited to Corpus Christi.

Miss working for Exxon. Great people.

Hi Kim,

Thank you for commenting on my blog!  Exxon is not sponsoring this particular event, there are quite a few sponsors but it is spearheaded mainly by the Downtown Development District.  Exxon is a great company and a wonderful community partner for Baton Rouge!

Sorry to hear BR lost you but I am sure you are enjoying Corpus.  Right now it is overcast and about 50.  Take Care!
