For about 6 years now I have been addicted to Beachbody workouts. I know... it sounds like the workouts should help you achieve that beachbody right? Well, because of genetics I don't know if that is ever truly possible for me, but I wanted to pass along a few of my favorite workout recommendations to you.
Slim in 6- This was the first beachbody program I had heard of. A friend of mine had been using this workout program and was getting great results so she recommended that I try it. The program was created by Debbie Siebers where she uses the "slim training" technique to burn fat while toning muscles. I ordered the video online and waited impatiently until the day it arrived. It comes with a meal program you can follow and 5 workouts. The main workouts progressively get more challenging as you build more muscles and get stronger.
A week or two later and my videos finally arrived! I couldn't wait to get started. I did my first workout at my boyfriend's (now my husband) apartment while he sat on the couch watching. I thought my arms and legs were going to fall off! He couldn't believe it was so hard so I challenged him to do it too. For the next 2 days I could barely walk. My legs were so sore it hurt to move. I remember going down to Atwood Lake to go swimming with my sister and she thought it was so funny that I was that sore. Well, a few months later I gave her the start it up video so she could try it herself. Sure enough, she had the same soreness. She was training a new nurse and everytime something fell on the floor she asked the trainee to pick it up.
So, fast forward to 6 years later and I still incorporate Slim in 6 into my workouts. I may take a break here or there and switch to a different video, but I usually do come back to this series.
To view the beachbody programs visit beachbody.com. There is a wonderful online support system and many workout programs to choose from. Who knows maybe someday I will get the courage to order the X??? My next beachbody post will be about Power90 with Tony Horton.
