Here is an interesting post from Roy Kelley about Pinterest. I am not too familiar with it but have been staying away since I know several people who tried to join and were told they were put on a "waiting list." What??
What are the risks of using Pinterest?
Many of us are posting images and photographs on Pinterest and some of as real estate professionals are trying to figure out how to use Pinterest to promote our businesses.
However, have we really given consideration to the risks of using Pinterest? What if we post photographs that belong to others and then access to the photographs is sold by Pinterest to third parties? Will we be personally liable for damages or will our company be sued? If we post our own photographs on Pinterest, what rights, if any, do we give up if access to those images is sold by Pinterest?
I just read this article that says that The Boston Business Journal stopped using Pinterest "after realizing it could be sued for images it uploaded to the site".
This article provides a good reminder to be very familar with the user agreements on websites and to consider the risks that are involved.
What do you think about risks faced by Pinterest users?
