Surfwood Monterey - January 2012 Sales Results
Background: Surfwood Monterey is located in the Hermon neighborhood of the city. Los Angeles adjacent to South Pasadena. Hermon is a small community that is relatively unknown and is often combined with Highland Park(same zip code 90042). Tell someone in Los Angeles you are from Hermon and you are likely to find a blank stare but Hermon is one of the oldest communities within the city of Los Angeles.
While in Hermon, please be sure to visit Fresco Community Market on Monterey Road between Avenue 60 and Via Marisol. This store is a welcome addition to the Hermon community with its in-store bakery(wi-fi too!), nice selection of wine, butcher, deli, organic produce and so more plus some of the nicest staff you will find anywhere.
The Surfwood Monterey complex was built in 1989 with the first move-ins occuring in 1990. It is a 92 unit complex designed around three interior courtyards. There is a common area lobby, subterranean parking, two elevators, a gym/workout room plus pool/spa/lounge area. The complex exterior was re-painted approximately two years ago and the monthly homeowner association fee is $340.00. All units are two bedrooms and two baths with laundry hook-ups inside the unit and at least one fireplace in a variety of floor plans with 9' ceilings. Many of the top floor units have clerestory windows.
There was one sale in Surfwood Monterey in January 2012 according to our local multiple listing service statistics. This was a two bedroom unit with approximately 1177 square feet of living and two fireplaces. It was a standard sale with hardwood floors and updated kitchen and sold for $229,000(list price was $235,000). During January 2011, there were no sales reported in the multiple listing service.
