Nevada County Farming Industry Stats

Nevada county has been known since the gold rush days as the mining center of California. The largest gold mine in California was the Empire Mine.  It operated continuously until 1956. Today agriculture is the prime business.  Our number 1 industry is timber! Number 2 is livestock. Number 3 is moving up on the other two.  It is grapes.  The county has 13 wineries and is becoming known for its great wines.  Watch out Napa & Sonoma.
