I learned something today from the inspector that seems so simple. Did you know?
As my clients and I were walking through the home with the inspector as he was pointing out some things he pointed at the wall plug, plugged in his tester and asked me to hit the light switch and of course the tester lit up. He pulled out the tester and pointed at the plug and said, "see how that plug is upside down" and we all responded. He stated that all the plugs in the house that are upside down are tied into a switch. The top plug is controlled by the switch and the bottom plug is hot all the time. So as it goes I learned something new again today. Seems so basic but I had no idea. Did you know this was how electricians installed the switch controlled plugs?
Switch controlled wall plug. Top plug controlled by wall switch bottom plug always hot.
Standard wall plug top and bottom always hot.
