Sunset View on the Hudson River - Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591

I happened to be on the Hudson River this evening and experienced the most wonderful sunset.  I had my camera - but photographing sunsets can be tough. With  a fairly new camera in hand - I got some fairly decent shots. So I'm just going to post a few and say "Enjoy!"

Your right that sunsets can be tricky.  You have some beautiful shots.  Cherish them

Thanks Vicky - having the newer camera seems to help.  I put it on the "night" setting and then took the same shots on the "day" setting. The "night" helps a lot.  I got this camera a short time ago and have been using it a bit. But I hadn't tried anything in unusual light. It did very, very well. I didn't think I was going to be able to get it.

Lenn - Thanks, it was nice to see them actually "look" the way I saw them in real life.

Trent - The first one I  took about 6 times.  Finally got it so you could see the lighthouse. Otherwise it looked like a dark blob.

Lloyd - Its over an hour away. Maybe an hour and 15 minutes driving SANELY. I did a writers workshop at Bard - it was to help science students write. It was a great experience - although the English majors had a tough time dealing with the science writing part of it.  Has to be factual -without frills.

Marchel - I had been trying it out for a while.  I finally took the "training wheels off" and am using it as my sole camera. At first I was upset. I thought I should have brought "old faithful" with me - but this time it worked out better with the new camera. Who said change is bad?

Dee - glad you liked the pics.  Even though I live in WP - I LOVE this park and this area too. I guess I'm not truly a city slicker. I LOVE the city etc., but there is something about not being in an urban jungle all the time. White Plains is truly a CITY.  Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are suburban with CHARACTER.

Ruth, I totally agree. As much as I like to visit NYC, I cannot imagine living there...And white plains is truly a city, no questions abt that!

I agree to an extent Dee...There is an extremely entrenched suburban section in White Plains that seems to have gotten "lost" in the buzz about Trump and the Ritz Carlton.  Areas like the southern portion of the Highlands, Prospect Park, Gedney Farms, Hillair, and Rosdale to name a few are still very suburban.  Gedney and Rosedale have homes with Golf course views and are far from urban.  But the downtown is another story. It's like two municipalities in one.
