Commentary
Mortgage interest rates remained all but unchanged last week, even though investment dollars moved significantly into the credit markets. Almost all of these investment dollars went into U.S. Treasuries, driving yields down to almost 4.00% for 10-year issues. The market for mortgage backed securities remains tenuous and unable to attract "flight-to-quality" investors.
Economic news was limited last week, with all eyes on consumer spending for the holidays, as "Black Friday" usually delivers insight into consumer trends and attitudes in the coming months.
