Mystery Weekend 2012 in Langley Washington
Each year, Langley Washington located on Whidbey Island, participates in a local mystery. This year
"IN COLD MUD" - Gold Fever Leads to Murder
Typically a fake newspaper story is fun in the South Whidbey Record or a fake newspaper is created and purchased from the Visitors Center with details involving everyone in the murder. Those that participate are instructed to search every store for a box of cards with a clue to the mystery. Various local artists play the role of the characters in the story and visitors, locals and tourist and encouraged to ask questions, and drill them for information. Once you feel you have solved the mystery you can submit your solution and enter into a drawing for various prizes.
Gold fever has gotten into the heart of those in the Langley area and prices are soaring for the nuggets. A stranger wanders into town with stashes of gold and everyone want to know where he got it all. The next day he is found in the park, dead, covered in mud with the gold missing. Everyone is on the look out for who did it.
Be a part of this exciting event. The Langley Visitor Information Center is open 10 - 5 on Saturday and the Coroner delivers his report at 1pm at the Langley Park. On Sunday at 4:30 the mystery is revealed at the Langley Middle School. Prizes are awarded for all entries even if there is no winner.
This is a super fun event and one that families, couples and individuals can do or as a fun group activity.
