Asheville, NC...Just Down the Road from Sylva ~ Wordless Wednesday

It only takes about 40 minutes from Sylva, NC to drive to the city of Asheville…our largest city in Western North Carolina. Here’s just a couple of examples of the beauty of Asheville, the fabulous Grove Park Inn with it’s commanding view of downtown Asheville and the mountain vista overlooking the golf course plus a bronze statue of a young girl drinking from a fountain on the busy streets of the downtown area.Grove Park Inn Collage copyright 2011 Mona Gersky

Asheville is a well-known haven of artists and musicians and touches similar to those in these photos are found everywhere in the city.

Definitely well worth the drive!

Hi Mona, Good job with the photos and the Asheville area is really beautiful. Tip: make your pictures bigger. It is too beautiful of an area and too vast to really show it off in the small thumbnails. Great job with the 3 photo group, would make a great header for a website.  The close up is just beautiful and could be in any magazine.

Andrea, it is a tease.  The weather wasn't very conducive for a great photo op day and I need to go back during prettier less splashy weather.  I'll get you more OR you can come for a visit and we'll go together!

Hi William, you are so right.  I was exhausted from showing all day and my creative side was whining lol.  Watch tonight and I'll give a better representation.  I like the collages but the one thing Picnik is frustrating about is making the template work with panoramic sizes.  Have a great day.

Laura, isn't that so cool?  It is a young girl bending over to take a drink from a basin.  Next time I'm in Asheville I'll take a long shot of it.

Roger, if you've never been here you deserve a chance to see it.  The Great Smoky National Park is the number one visited national park in the country.

Wayne, thank you. There are many days I have to pinch myself to make sure it's all real.

Glad you could join me at the Grove Park Inn for a part of the Arts and Crafts Conference I was attending.  I hope to write a blog about it soon.  It is my favorite place to visit and the Arts and Crafts Period of the early 1900's is one of my favorite time periods to study.

Mona, I told you I'd drop by your blog.  So much fun visiting with you, Leslie, and Siena today.  You can find my blogs in my email signature. The most recent is about Nina Simone.   Wild is the Wind---one of my favorite songs ever.

Leslie, I think everyone would enjoy that.  You are one of the most learned people I know about the Arts & Crafts period.

Hi DeeDee, I'm going to post more of the shots over the weekend.  Glad you enjoyed them.

Kay, it was awesome to see you again.  I can't wait to visit your blog too.  Have a great weekend.
