New Hampshire Home Stager, Transforming My New Home - Kitchen

In a recent post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, I promised to share photos from the transformation of my new home.

In case you missed it:  Dining Room Living Room, Master Bed & Bath

The kitchen has been painted and we've made a few small changes, but it's not done.

We will eventually replace the counters and tile the backsplash, but not until we can decide exactly what we want.  We are still looking at options.

Here's what we've done so far.....

If you've been following the series, you know the paint colors already.  We used Ben Moore Thunder on all walls but one....using Ben Moore Stampede as an accent wall.

kitchen BEFOREkitchen AFTER

We turned the ceiling fan blades over to their black side.

We painted the base of the island black because it didn't match the cabinets or the floors.

The wall color is far more dramatic than the picture shows....it's actually much warmer.

We updated the outlet at the end of the island to black...

outlet replaced

We updated the cabinet hardware....

Kathy:  We are happy with all the improvements so far and are almost done the majority of what I would like to see done.  You are never really "done" when it comes to home improvement, there is always something else to do.  The kitchen will get done with time.

Ellen:  Thank you!

Janet:  Glad you are enjoying it.  I'm doing my best to keep the expense down and keep the cost reasonable.

I'm impressed, but not surprised...I wouldn't have thought to paint the island that color, but it looks great!  Learn something new everyday.  Thanks for sharing your pic's!

Lydie:  Please share some photos if you do use the colors...I would love to see!

Rebecca:  We have used black on many pieces of furniture, this is first time we have done anything like this.  In the picture it looks like the woodgrain finish went well with the cabinets and floor, but it really didn't match either....I'm very happy with the black finish.

I am always amazed at how much impact and improvement can come from some of the simpler changes in home improvement.  For example the cabinet hardware change in your photos.

I had missed your kitchen in this series so I'm happy to go back and see everything that is happening.  I'm thinking about painting the base cabinets in my hawaii condo a dark espresso and your island painting has helped me give that further thought.  Thanks for letting us into your new home to experience the changes with you (without the labor (:  )

The painted island is the best thing! I did that to mine years ago, a dark sage green and what a difference! Wood cabinets, wood floors.......all too much. Painted pieces add so much. i recommend it to many of my clients. Love the black!

Shar:  It was driving me crazy- all that wood!  I love black, but I was a little nervous painting it.  Now that it's done, we are very happy with the results.

Kate:  Someday we will replace the counters and put some tile, but I need some time to live in the house first and determine exactly what I want.

Hello Sharon - transforming any house into a home is never as simple as one may originally think but the changes you have made here make a nice first impression.  Easy as pie?  No way but it seems kinda appropriate when discussing the appearance of a kitchen.    So long ago but I am sure you (and Rick too) recall some of smallest details that may go unnoticed by many.

Michael Jacobs We did eventually paint all the cabinets white, added white tile backsplash and new granite counter tops.

Before selling the home we replaced the flooring throughout too.
